We think the horse automatically knows what it is that we want from him but he doesn't and we as humans have to realize this. The horse, just as any human or other animal, has a unique personality. We all have instinct that can lead us in one direction or another but that doesn't mean your horse doesn't have a personality of his own. It doesn't mean he doesn't like some things more than others and dislike others. Just as we humans have our own individual characteristics that make us better at some things than other things, so does the horse have these strengths and limitations.
We humans have to acknowledge that fact. We humans have free will and are here to strengthen our souls and learn from our past mistakes through the use of free will. This is where our animal friends differ from us.
We are drawn to the horse because of it's wonderful powerful spirit. We admire the horse for it's freedom and strength. One has a tendency to think back on the movie "The Black Stallion" with that wonderful deep bond the boy and the horse shared. We long for that kind of relationship with our own horse.
BUT all too often, we get caught up in the mundane day to day barn life that expects robotic perfection out of our friends. While striving for the perfect dance, we tend to break the spirit of the horse with repetitive abuse. We forget that we are dealing with a personality. We forget we don't always just KNOW how to dance with the horse with that perfect harmony because our energy is broken or off.
Dancing as one with our horses requires a certain type of energy and health in our spirit/soul. If you are damaged and are in need of healing then the horse can definitely help you, but it is NOT automatic! Our horses want to dance and play with us and feel our hearts with supreme joy and happiness. They really do! BUT some of us have to re-learn how to be joyful and happy and have our spirits uplifted. We have to learn how to have fun with our horses again by first learning how to just enjoy being with our horses and learn how to communicate with them and have them hear us as they wish us to hear them.
I can teach you how to become one with your horse by teaching you how to communicate effectively with your horse and how to enjoy your horse. You have to remember that your horse has an individual personality and you have to build a relationship with your horse in order for him to bring you the enjoyment you want so badly. Learn how to allow him to help you escape life's stresses. It's a journey and a dance you won't regret.
