The pitbull is a very loyal and powerful companion. It is a dog of power, passion, and undying willingness. It aims to please. They are good natured, amusing, and affectionate. They are courageous and intelligent. They were historically referred to as "nanny dogs" because of their uncanny ability to tolerate children (a high pain threshold helps too). Pitbulls love children! I have 7 nieces and nephews that lay and play all over our pitbulls. When the dog gets tired of it, they simply get up and walk away - but more often than not, they are right in the middle of it because they cannot get enough attention.
Pitbulls are truly great dogs but require what all animals require - a loving family and home and respect!
